Once a day, a new painting is quietly downloaded in the background from The Met. The collection grows a little richer each day, so every day brings a new encounter.
A lightweight design that runs from a single file. The display never waits for an internet connection. No installer and no extra software — everything lives in one file.
Use the "Download" button above to save MasterpieceSaver.zip, then right-click → "Extract All" to unzip it. Inside you'll find MasterpieceSaver.scr.
Right-click the extracted .scr file and choose "Install" from the menu. The screensaver settings window opens.
In the settings window, confirm that "Masterpiece Saver" is selected, set a wait time (e.g. 5 minutes) and press "OK". Then just step away, and the paintings begin to flow automatically.
Your browser (Edge, Chrome, etc.) may warn that the file "can't be downloaded securely" or "isn't commonly downloaded." This is the standard message for files distributed without a paid code-signing certificate — it is not a virus.
In the downloads list, open the "…" (more) menu and choose, depending on your browser:
Likewise a standard message for unsigned software — Windows may show a blue warning screen the first time you run it.
Click "More info" on the screen, then press the "Run anyway" button that appears, and it will work normally.
※ Tested on Windows 10 / 11. Mac and smartphones are not supported. All artworks are in the public domain (works whose copyright has expired).
